Carb Crush is a webcam game designed as an informal learning tool that fosters understanding of Type-1 Diabetes and its impact on everyday diet. It uses a front-facing webcam to track a player's mouth movement and provides a playful game experience where players observe the effects of eating food with differing amounts of carbohydrates and sugars. The game promotes healthy attitudes toward diabetes management, which couples with enhanced adherence to dietary, medical, and treatment regimens. It also exposes children to the complex system of diabetes management, developing critical knowledge about the relationship between food consumption, insulin requirements, and blood sugar through an accessible and playful form of embodied cognition.
